Storm Pia added to the chaos, leaving thousands of homes in Scotland without power as it toppled power lines. The Cairngorm summit in the Highlands recorded the strongest wind gust at an alarming 115mph (185km/h). The impact of the inclement weather and strike was evident in various incidents, including overturned lorries, trees colliding with houses, and damage to power lines disrupting rail services across the entire country.
