NBA Summer League 2024: Bold Predictions for Bronny, DJ Burns, and More from Day 1 Highlights
The NBA 2K25 Summer League officially began on Friday in Las Vegas, featuring seven exciting matchups.
Bronny James took the court with the Los Angeles Lakers,
while NCAA tournament standout DJ Burns played for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Additionally, top NBA draft picks Zaccharie Risacher and Alex Sarr faced off in
their much-anticipated debuts.
Here’s a breakdown of their performances, reactions, and the
night's outcomes.
**Day 1 Scores**
- Orlando Magic 106, Cleveland Cavaliers 79
- Minnesota Timberwolves 81, New Orleans Pelicans 74
- Memphis Grizzlies 103, Sacramento Kings 83
- Houston Rockets 99, Los Angeles Lakers 80
- Brooklyn Nets 97, Indiana Pacers 95
- Washington Wizards 94, Atlanta Hawks 88
- Los Angeles Clippers 88, Denver Nuggets 78
**Bronny James**
Bronny James displayed more offensive assertiveness against
the Houston Rockets, following his limited shot attempts in his first two
summer league games. However, it was a challenging night for James, who scored
eight points on 3-of-14 shooting (0-of-8 from three-point range) in a 99-80
loss. Despite his shooting struggles, he contributed five rebounds and two
steals in 27 minutes. He managed six points in the first quarter, including a
basket assisted by fellow rookie Dalton Knecht. Although it’s been a tough
start for James (6-of-26 from the field, 0-of-12 from three), he has only
played three exhibition games as a Laker. His next game is on Monday against
the Boston Celtics.
**DJ Burns**
DJ Burns had limited playing time for the Cleveland
Cavaliers in their 106-79 defeat to the Orlando Magic. In 12 minutes, Burns
recorded four points, two rebounds, an assist, and a steal. He scored his first
summer league points off a putback and added another basket in the paint.
Despite shedding weight since his NC State days, Burns remains a formidable
presence on the court.
